Coming off his first 20-goal season as a pro last year, Tyler Madden signed a one-year contract extension last summer. With a drop in his production during the 2023-24 regular season, there seemed to a bit of regression or even a plateau occurring. Then came the playoffs.

The 24-year-old Kings prospect had a pair of goals in Ontario’s decisive Game 1 victory — including the game-winning goal — and topped that off in Game 2 by scoring the series clinching goal late in regulation.

It’s been a long and winding road for the Reign in postseason play. This marks the first time they’ve made it past the first round since 2016. This is a whole new group, though. New roster, new coach, and dare we say, a new swagger about them.

Ontario will now await the winner of Sunday’s Abbotsford-Colorado game to see who they’ll play next. However, that series is expected to begin at Toyota Arena on May 1.
