Carpet Spiders! We have that type here in Virginia...as well as every other type of goddamn arachnid on the planet. Never seen so many spiders as I have here, and I've been all over the world. Luckily most are chill.
Coolest one we have is called a Fishing Spider. They climb up into evergreens en masse, sit on a tip of a branch and cast one single strand of web about 10 feet down wind. They hold the strand while letting it fly around in the breeze. Once a gnat or fly gets tangled, they hand-over-hand the strand back in and eat up. Pretty cool stuff. We get 1000's of them “Fishing” from 4 Leyland Cypress.
