Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One Blu-ray Set Release Delayed Indefinitely Due to Lawsuit | Collider
One of the draws to the bundle was its briefcase-like packaging that mirrored the case containing the all-important Tesseract from The Avengers. It was a neat idea and superfans were eager to get their hands on it, but there was just one problem: Marvel neglected to get permission from the briefcase’s maker to reproduce and distribute it to hundreds of thousands of fans. As such, the release of the collector’s set has been halted indefinitely. Hit the jump for more.
Though the set was initially to be available on September 25th, a lawsuit against Marvel from the German luggage company Rimowa BhmbH has put an indefinite hold on its release. The company states their case (hey-oh!) in court documents that were recently released (per THR):
“Marvel did not obtain any license or authorization from Rimowa to make replica copies of the case for any purpose . . . the plastic ‘replica case’ [is] a close copy of Rimowa’s Topas attaché case in every respect but quality — from the proportions and coloring, to the style of the handle and latches, and, of course, in the use of the trademarked parallel ridges around the body of the case.”
Joss Whedon planning to 'twist that knife' in Avengers 2 | Blastr
Though Avengers did feature a few heartbreaking moments, the focus was mostly on bringing the team together and creating that high-note payoff of saving the world.
But for round two, Whedon said he'll be digging a little deeper into what makes these bigger-than-life characters tick—and give them some true pain to deal with in the upcoming sequels.
He told 24 Hours:
"The creation of the team is not the happy ending. It is the beginning of something that is complex and difficult, and now I get to dig a little deeper. And maybe, while I'm digging, just twist that knife. And that's exciting for me."
Whedon also touched on what his role will be in Phase 2, and reiterated that he's confident with the team in place, and only wants to be the guiding hand tying all the films together:
"Very talented people are writing and directing these movies, and what I don't want to be is the guy they dread, who's going to come in and say 'Oh, well I have the power to say change this.' I'm not that."
What do you think of Marvel's appointment of Whedon as Grand Poobah over the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Is he the man for the job?
Thor 2 Mini-Rushes – Baddies, Warriors, Fandral And Stan Lee | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors
Nice out of focus long shot of Zachary Levi...I like the way this is looking. Alan Taylor directed some of the better Game of Thrones eps and was largely responsible for the look...and it looks like he is bringing that to the new Thor. The downside of that is he can't do any of the season 3 GoT eps.
