Defensive help is on the way to the Flyers, although in this case it's nearly 37 years in the making.
The Flyers picked up veteran Jaroslav Modry from the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday in exchange for a third-round pick in this year's draft.
With Derian Hatcher's surgically repaired right knee an uncertainty (he's currently out three weeks), the Flyers needed some insurance.
Modry is a savvy, 13-year NHL veteran with good puck skills and should be able to help a defense corps which is still on the young side with the likes of Braydon Coburn, Randy Jones, Ryan Parent, Jim Vandermeer and Lasse Kukkonen.
