Exactly what I was thinking. It would give OTT much needed cap room since Anze would be much cheaper than Spezza contract. I can't believe DL would be foolish enough to do this. Can you image opening night with no Anze announced, but Meszaros being announced. WOW. The kid would hear it and it wouldn't even be his fault.....
I heard boomer talk about this on xm home ice today and he even said this was a joke. someone in ottawa is either very bored or drunk if you think we are going to give up Kopitar. If this deal does happen, I'm done rooting for this team and demand a refund for my tickets.
this would be the dumbest trade in kings history. he's arguably our best player and for sure the face of our franchise. and if lombardi is goin with the youth movement then why would u get rid of our best young player. stupidest trade ever. no way this could happen. if it does. i am not buying a single ticket for next year. mark my words. and if terry murray (our new coach) is pulling strings for his brother bryan murray (the gm for ottawa) then i'll club him with a stick.
that would remind me of crawford forcing us to sign cloutier which worked out amazingly. i'm so floored by this it makes me sick to my stomach that we could possibly do something this dumb. unreal.
According to insiders, Ottawa would trade netminder Martin Gerber and defenceman Andrej Meszaros to Los Angeles, the Kings would move 20-year-old centre Anze Kopitar to Chicago and the Blackhawks would propel goalie Nikolai Khabibulin and either of young blueliners Brent Seabrook or Cam Barker to the Senators.
OK. I do not even know where to begin. This would be the worst trade in Kings history but look at the history of this franchise. I can think of 4 or 5 equally idiotic deals or signings or lack of signings from the past. Bernie Nicholls, Luc Robitaille, Dan Cloutier, Josef Stumpel x2, etc... all involved in stupid transactions. Do you really think the Kings are above a dumb ass deal like this? My head hurts just from the concept of this deal.
That being said I am prepared to burn all of my Kings jerseys, Cancel my season Seats and start cheering for the.... I cant believe I would even consider this... the Ducks.... if they pull off something like this. Has anyone seen Deano drive to work lately? Is he "Riding the Short Bus"? Does he wear protective headwear to work to reduce the possibility of injury? Was he the "Special" kid with the pokey stick and trash bag on campus? If so, the idea of this trade makes sense... If not then WTF?
Screw trying to get another Defenseman or Goalie. Just run with the youngsters and wait for them to get good. Stop stirring the pot and adding ingredients we DO NOT NEED. Pretty soon our Chicken Soup will again turn into Chicken ****.... Circa Larry Robinson and his comments on the Kings a few years back...
