The American Hockey League announced Friday that Daniel Taylor of the Manchester Monarchs has been named the Rbk X-Pulse/AHL Goaltender of the Month for January. Taylor made six appearances last month, posting a record of 5-0-0 with a 0.87 goals-against average, a .972 save percentage and three shutouts.
Taylor stopped 26 shots in a 3-2 shootout win at Binghamton on Jan. 12 and 28 more in a 6-2 victory at Philadelphia on Jan. 13. After denying 20-of-21 shots in two periods of relief work at Rockford on Jan. 16, Taylor closed out the month with three consecutive shutouts, blanking Milwaukee (30 saves) on Jan. 18, Worcester (35 saves) on Jan. 23 and Lowell (32 saves) on Jan. 25. Taylor enters February without having allowed a goal in his last 185:36 of work.
