Teddy Purcell was hoping to get a little shut-eye before his NHL debut Tuesday night in Edmonton, but his cellphone kept ringing.
"I'm pretty anxious and excited,' he said Tuesday afternoon as he looked ahead to his first opportunity to play in the NHL. "There are obviously a lot of different emotions going through me right now. I've been trying to take a nap, but I can't get to sleep."
Called up the to Los Angles Kings from the AHL Manchester Monarchs Monday, the 22-year-old right winger as looking forward to playing on a line with two veterans - left-winger Kyle Calder and centre Michal Handzus.
"Hopefully, they will be able to get me settled down early and it won't feel like my first game."
