The Manchester Monarchs look to cash in their game in hand for valuable points tonight in a 7:05 p.m. battle with Portland at Verizon Wireless Arena.
Manchester (32-29-5-4, 73 points), courtesy of its 4-2 win Sunday against Springfield (31-30-5-5, 72 points), is clinging to the fourth and final playoff berth in the Atlantic Division by a point over the Falcons.
After tonight, the Monarchs hit the road for three straight road games, including back-to-back encounters Friday and Saturday against the Norfolk Admirals (25-39-2-5, 57 points), who are last in the East Division. The Monarchs complete the weekend road swing against defending Eastern Conference champion Hershey Bears on Sunday.
