Pascal Pelletier, Jeff Hoggan and Martins Karsums scored unanswered goals as the Providence Bruins pulled out a 3-2 overtime victory over the Monarchs completing a four-game sweep of their best-of-seven Atlantic Division semifinal series.
Three of the four games in the series were settled by a goal -- all three in overtime. In seven seasons the Monarchs have yet to win an elimination game.
"We've been down this road before," said Bruins coach Scott Gordon of the comeback and emotional winner in OT. His team finished first in the AHL, while Manchester scratched and clawed to earn the final playoff spot in the division.
