Maybe a month ago the last-place Lowell Devils could hang around with the Manchester Monarchs, but last night the Devils were put in their place before nearly as many Monarchs fans as locals in Tsongas Arena.
Top-scoring rookie in the AHL Brian Boyle and the AHL rookie of the year Teddy Purcell each were in on three goals as the Monarchs patiently produced a 7-3 win before 2,864. Boyle scored two and assisted one, while Purcell scored once and had two helpers.
"Not bad," smiled Boyle. "We're not there yet."
