Kings' assistant general manager Ron Hextall, who doubles as the Monarchs GM, visited from Los Angeles this week and met with most of the players. Hextall was a fiery no-nonsense goaltender for the Philadelphia Flyers in his playing days and he takes that same straight-on approach as the head man of the Kings' top minor league affiliate.

Hextall: It all depends on the kids. If the kids play well then they're going to play. In the end it's Mark's (Monarchs coach Morris) decision, but if Erik (Ersberg) and Danny (Taylor) play well, they're going to play a lot of the games. That's one of those things that can change quickly.
