Despite their on-again, off-again unpredictable play, with a good weekend the Monarchs could have a slight hold on the elusive fourth and final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.
A bad weekend and they could be out.
"It could go either way in a hurry," said Monarchs general manager Ron Hextall. "Quite frankly I like the team there. Overall I'm happy with the performance of the young players. But it is time for some of these guys to start stepping up without a doubt. These guys have enough experience to take their game to the next level."
