The Monarchs enter another crucial weekend, this time trailing fourth-place Springfield by three points for that elusive final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.
The Monarchs have a rare Friday night off before they travel to the Portland Pirates (Anaheim) Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The Pirates are safely in third place in the division on a four-game home win streak. Then Sunday at 4:05 p.m. the Monarchs host the Springfield Falcons (Edmonton).
With only 12 games left, the Monarchs are facing the Falcons for the last time. It is a "must win."
"Very important," said Monarchs coach Mark Morris. "They've all been important the last month or so but I guess it's another opportunity for us to gain some ground on them."
