Manchester releases Laurendeau
MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have recalled defenseman Jon Klemm from the Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. In addition, the Monarchs recalled goaltender Jonathan Quick from the ECHL's Reading Royals and released goaltender Rick Laurendeau from his professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Klemm, 38, has played in six games for the Kings this season, and has zero points and two penalty minutes. He has played in 40 games this season with Manchester, where he has served as captain, and has five points (all assists) and 38 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Cranbrook, British Columbia, is a veteran of 14 NHL seasons, and he has recorded 142 points (42-100=142) and 428 penalty minutes in 757 career NHL games.
Quick, 21, has played in three games with the Kings this season. He made his NHL debut and posted his first NHL win versus Buffalo on December 6. The 6-foot, 180-pound native of Milford, Connecticut, has a record of 1-2-0, a goals-against-average of 3.86 and a save-percentage of .855 in his three appearances with the Kings this season. Quick has also played in three games with Manchester this season where he has a record of 1-2-0, a goals-against-average of 2.67 and a save-percentage of .909, and in 38 games with the Reading this season where he has a record of 23-11-3 with one shutout, a goals-against-average of 2.67 and a save-percentage of .905. The Kings selected Quick in the third-round (72nd overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Laurendeau, a native of Manchester, New Hampshire, served as the Monarchs back-up goaltender on Tuesday when the squad fell to the Devils. Laurendeau, a 5-foot-9, 175-pounder who played college hockey at Plymouth State College, served as the back-up following the trade of goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin to Anaheim on Tuesday.
