The Blues' playoff hopes were dealt a setback Thursday night by the Los Angeles Kings.
The Blues thoroughly outplayed the Kings in the first period but came up empty in a game that went into the second period scoreless. And as often happens, the team that hangs in the game typically returns with a response.
For the Kings, the big response came in the form of four second-period goals in a span of 6 minutes, 40 seconds en route to a 5-1 win. It was the Blues' first regulation loss since Feb. 9.
Yeah, I'm so sick of hearing such derogatory terms describing the Kings. I mean just calling them "Kings" is bad enough. =) People who don't know the sport even know they suck... Yet I wear my jersey with pride.
The Stamkos thing is a joke and Im sorry to ruin it for the MENSA members who havent figured it out by now... but seriously, no matter WHAT pick the Kings end up with I will be suprised if Lombardi doesn't go off the board again. All the 'Naysayers' who were pissed and confused about the Hickey draft last year have now looked him up, payed a bit of attention, and caught on to the brilliance of the pick. Lombardi showed us at least that one time that he is looking at the long term effect of a pick and is trying to bring in the right parts for the team and the system rather than the expected sexy pick. Thats why he is the GM while the rest of us are pretending and wild guessing our way all over a message board and it's about time that we 'know our role'.

This is exactly why I laugh everytime some of the people around here mention this name or that when guessing who DL will pick. Did anyone have any idea he'd pick Ellis off of wavers from Wings? heck no. Some just haven't learned yet to just sit back and rely on DL's judgment on what he thinks he should do.
