For Scott Thornton, Saturday was the first day of the rest of his life.
After 18 years of play at the NHL level, Thornton plans to retire.
I am not 100 percent, but I am as close as you can get to it, Thornton said of his decision to retire. I have prepared for it and I think that is the next step for me to move on. I still love to play but my body is telling me other wise.
It is too hard now, too much preparation every day, too many injuries this year, it is time to move on.
