The Coyotes were on the brink, and Radim Vrbata pulled them back.
Reeling a little after losing a two-goal lead, the Coyotes came out with intense pressure on a power play in the third period, and Vrbata's goal gave them a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night before a crowd of 17,997 at Jobing.com Arena.
The key sequence began with the Coyotes holding a man advantage, and a minute into that penalty, the Kings were tagged with another, putting them two men down for a minute. They struggled through those 60 seconds, and with five ticks left on the five-on-four, Vrbata knocked it in with 7:06 remaining.
"It was huge for us," Vrbata said. "Every game and point count right now. We know LA is not first in the playoffs, but they are playing a lot better, and you could see it tonight. They never gave up, and it was big two points for us.
