LaBarbera an optimist
All last winter, Jason LaBarbera was marooned in New Hampshire, home of the Los Angeles Kings' farm team.
Sure, the Kings needed a goalie, but they never called LaBarbera.
Had they tried, the veteran was a sure-fire pluck off of the waiver wire.
So the Kings remained patient. Stunningly, so did LaBarbera.
"Obviously, I wasn't where I wanted to be (the American Hockey League) but at the same time, I understood the situation," the Calgary resident said Friday as the Kings prepared for tonight's game against the Flames. "I knew there was nothing they could do about it. So there was no sense pouting or crying about it.
"It worked out all right because I got an opportunity this year."
