It's been a season of disappointment for the Kings, but they got a dose of good news Thursday morning when center Anze Kopitar was selected to play in the NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 27 in Atlanta.
Kopitar, 20, leads the Kings with 40 points in 44 games this season. The NHL does not stipulate that every team must have a player in the All-Star Game, but the Kings, who sit in last place in the Western Conference, will be represented by their second-year center.
Last season, Kopitar played in the NHL's YoungStars game during the All-Star weekend. This season, he has recorded 10 multi-point games.
