Eleven minutes to go in a 6-1 game and the crowd was on its feet.
Not because of Daymond Langkow's hat-trick minutes earlier or because the Flames turned in the type of beat-down fans have expected to see more of all year.
This time, it was for Miikka Kiprusoff.
Yep -- the guy relegated to backup status if only in the sports pages as the collective hearts of the city were aflutter over the signing of Curtis Joseph this week.
Some even went as far as to wonder if Cujo would supplant Kiprusoff as starter for last night's gimme against Los Angeles.
Not a chance.
Even less of a chance Joseph will see more than four starts if Kiprusoff keeps this up.
Don't be fooled by the score -- this one was all about Kipper.
And following a flurry of spectacular saves midway through a final frame that saw the Kings direct 14 shots his way, Kiprusoff was showered with the type of adulation not seen around here since last spring when he almost single-handedly beat what is now the best team in hockey.
