Despite a 5-3 comeback victory Thursday night, the Kings are in last place in the Western Conference and harbor no hope of making the playoffs. So they will be active at the Feb. 26 deadline, attempting to get rid of prospective unrestricted free agents and acquiring draft picks for the future.
They are likely to unload defensemen Rob Blake, Brad Stuart and Jaroslav Modry, and the Red Wings are looking for defensive depth. So don't be surprised if the teams talk a lot between now and the deadline.
The Wings would be interested in all three. But Blake is the most intriguing of the trio.
On injured reserve with a broken left ankle, Blake is expected to return later this month.
