All remained surprisingly quiet on the Kings' front Monday, on the eve of the NHL trading deadline.
The Kings are one of the few teams in the league both out of the playoff race and with veteran players in the final year of their contract, and as such are expected to be one of the deadline's biggest sellers.
But if general manager Dean Lombardi is going to create a flurry, it looks like he's going to come down to the wire.
Rob Blake said Monday morning that Lombardi had not yet asked him to waive his no-trade clause. Though the 38-year-old defenseman has said he would like to stay with the Kings, he's worth more to the team in trade value than in what he could do on the ice at this point.
Scott Thornton is another veteran with playoff experience who seems likely to go, especially since he could probably be had relatively cheaply.
If Lombardi wants to make a real splash, he could deal forward Michael Cammalleri. The Kings have depth at forward throughout the organization but could use a young defenseman with size.
The 25-year-old top-line forward could fetch that sort of return, and the Kings have to worry about his signability after next season because of last summer's messy arbitration.
"I really don't know what's going to happen," Cammalleri said. "Obviously, there's a lot of rumors going on about our team. It's what happens when you're in last place. I don't claim to be a prophet or know what's going to happen for me or anyone else. We'll see (today)."
