The Los Angeles Kings relieved the goaltending logjam for the Manchester Monarchs by trading Jean-Sebastien Aubin to the Anaheim Ducks yesterday for a seventh round draft pick.
The move momentarily solidifies second-year pro Dan Taylor as the No. 1 goaltender for the Monarchs. Rookie goaltender Erik Ersberg is up with the Kings for the injured Jason LaBarbera. He is on a six-game losing skid in Manchester.
The Monarchs will probably see Aubin playing for Anaheim's AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates.
Meanwhile, AHL playoff rosters -- 20 skaters and two goaltenders -- must be in by Thursday at 3 p.m. There was no veteran help acquired for the Monarchs at the NHL trade deadline, but Monarchs director of hockey development Hubie McDonough said the club will still be looking to make a possible exchange of players via loan up to the Thursday's deadline.
