Dan Cloutier has been with the Kings for only two weeks since being called up from the minors, but that is long enough to sum both his and the team's season succinctly - they are either great or awful, with no middle ground.
Occasionally, like Saturday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, they are both great and awful in the same game.
The Kings created a four-goal deficit with a horrible second-period stretch, but scrambled back to tie the score with two goals in the final 67seconds before falling 6-5 in overtime in front of a sold-out crowd of 18,118 at Staples Center.
"This is as good an overtime loss as you're ever going to see," Kings coach Marc Crawford said.
