The Kings ended their season just as they have done every year since 2002: with disappointment and without a spot in the playoffs. For that six-year drought to end, several things will have to break the Kings’ way next season.
If there’s one reason for optimism, it’s with the group of age-25-and-under forwards—most notably Dustin Brown, Alexander Frolov, Anze Kopitar and Patrick O’Sullivan—who will make up the core of the team’s future.
With forwards Brian Boyle and Teddy Purcell also poised to crack the NHL lineup this season, the Kings’ ability to score goals next season seems secure. From inside the defensive blue line, however, it might be a different story.
