The Kings are going to be a lot happier leaving town than the Ducks.
In the final local NHL action for close to three weeks, the Kings built an early lead and never let up, taking a brisk 3-1 win over the Ducks on Thursday night before a sellout crowd of 18,118 at Staples Center.
The victory ended a four-game Ducks winning streak over their Southern California rivals and allowed the Kings to head into the break for Sunday's All-Star game in Atlanta with a 5-2 mark in their past seven games.
The recent stretch of good play has not been enough to lift LA (20-29-2) from the bottom of the standings, but a one-sided win over the defending champs is certainly good for the team's spirits heading into the break.
