LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have recalled goaltender Daniel Taylor from the Reading Royals of the ECHL, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi today announced.
Taylor, 21, has appeared in one game with the Kings this season. He made his NHL debut with the club in relief on Saturday, March 29 at STAPLES Center, stopping 10 of 12 shots in the third period. Taylor is the seventh goalie to see action with the Kings this season, tying an NHL record. The 1989-90 Quebec Nordiques and 2002-03 St. Louis Blues also used seven goalies in one season.
Taylor has also played in 23 games with the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) this season, and has recorded a 13-5-2 record, four shutouts, a 2.40 goals-against-average and a .921 save percentage (the 13 wins and four shutouts lead the team as does his 2.40 GAA and .921 save percentage). In January, he was named the AHL’s Goaltender of the Month after he posted a 5-0-0 record in six appearances including three shutouts. Taylor has also this season played in five games with Reading, where he has gone 3-0-0 with a 2.63 GAA and a .919 save percentage.
Taylor, a 5-11, 179-pound native of Plymouth, England, was originally selected by the Kings in the seventh-round (221st overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
The Kings return to action today, Thursday, when they host San Jose at STAPLES Center at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FSN West, KTLK AM 1150 and along the Kings Radio Network.
