Teddy Purcell made his Staples Center debut Tuesday in the Kings' 3-0 loss to Detroit after playing his first three NHL games last week on the road trip in Canada.
Kings fans had been waiting a while to see Purcell, the top offensive player at American Hockey League affiliate Manchester (N.H.) with 53 points in 40 games.
General manager Dean Lombardi had resisted bringing up the team's young prospects earlier in the season.
With injuries to forwards Michael Cammalleri and Brian Willsie, Purcell got the call.
