The Kings continue to evaluate the good, the bad and the ugly as they make their way into the final month of the season.
A potentially very ugly situation in Denver was avoided Saturday in the aftermath of a second-period hit by rookie defenseman Jack Johnson that left Colorado forward Ryan Smyth unconscious on the ice.
Johnson moved his shoulder into Smyth as they skated down the boards near the Colorado bench. Unfortunately, Johnson's check came just as Smyth arrived at the junction of the bench and the end glass with Smyth colliding with the post that supports the glass.
