Kings coach Marc Crawford joked last week that he would go to church and pray for the Kings to win the NHL's draft lottery.
Perhaps, in the long run, the Kings will benefit from Crawford's unanswered prayers.
Tampa Bay celebrated a victory Monday, when the Lightning won the lottery and the right to the first overall pick in the June 20 entry draft. The Kings will select second, and might benefit just as much.
"Everybody would like to win the lottery," Kings president and general manager Dean Lombardi said, "but there's no doubt in my mind that we're going to get a very good player at No. 2.
"I wouldn't say you wouldn't want the No. 1 (pick), but we're comfortable with where we are."
