There were so many reasons to celebrate Tuesday night that even the Kings probably weren't sure where to start.
Nine goals, career highs and a sparkling power play all were at the top of the list as the Kings rang in the New Year time and again in a 9-2 victory over visiting Chicago in front of 16,916 at Staples Center.
The fact the Kings also picked up a three-game winning streak, their first since the end of October when they won four in a row, seemed unimportant in comparison to the confidence and relentless scoring they displayed.
Prior to the current streak, they had lost eight straight.
"It's a lot easier game to play when you're being assertive and making assertive decisions," Kings coach Marc Crawford said. "It's easier said than done, it is an emotional game and the emotion of getting some confidence and feeling good about yourself is the exact tonic that our team needed."
After the game, the locker room white board read a much-deserved "day off" in large black capital letters.
