The Kings are out of the playoff race, but goalie Erik Ersberg is generating plenty of buzz.
Ersberg, the rookie who turns 26 today, earned his first NHL victory Thursday and will start for the Kings today against Montreal.
Ersberg stopped 40shots against Ottawa in a 2-0 victory, and is looking increasingly confident in the net.
His play might make for goalie-controversy talk in the offseason, but fans should be cautioned if they're looking to anoint him as No. 1 any time soon.
"He's a long ways away from being a guy that should wrestle with the burden of being a No. 1 goalie on a good team," coach Marc Crawford said.
"First of all, we're not a good team yet. Second of all, he hasn't put enough of a body of work together to get that distinction.
