The Islanders had lost five in a row at home and had several players bothered by the flu, but they also had the league's worst team coming to the Nassau Coliseum.

Instead, the Isles lost their sixth consecutive game in their building, falling to the Kings, 3-1. And in the process, they slipped behind the Rangers and into ninth place in the Eastern Conference.
"It's been a real tough month for us," Ted Nolan said of his team, which hasn't won on Long Island since beating the Devils on Dec. 29 and has lost five of six overall.
