Former NHL defenseman Jere Karalahti was given a suspended 20-month jail sentence by a Finnish court on Thursday for his involvement in an amphetamine drug-smuggling case. Karalahti, who played for Los Angeles Kings and Nashville Predators between 1999-2002, said he was innocent and his lawyer Jarkko Jaatela told Finnish News Agency STT they would appeal.
The court also ordered the 32-year-old former NHL player to pay a fine of 10,000 euros ($15,460).
