Vlad Dravecky scored twice as the Monarchs held on to a 5-4 victory, making the Milwaukee Admirals' first-ever trip to Verizon Wireless Arena anything but memorable.
After winning two of their last three, the Monarchs (23-20-4-2, 52 points) are alone in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, one point ahead of Springfield.
Rookie defenseman Cody Franson scored a pair for Milwaukee. Defenseman Kevin Dallman, who played in his third Monarchs game while on a two-week conditioning assignment from Los Angeles, assisted on four goals. Monarchs goaltender Dan Cloutier (4-9) made 20 saves, winning his first game since Dec. 1.
"It is a win. It wasn't pretty at times, but we managed to get two points," said Cloutier. "Again way too many mistakes. Especially at this time of the year and battling for a playoff spot."
"Dan Cloutier stood on his head for us tonight," said Monarchs coach Mark Morris. "Give him a lot of credit for that win. We left him vulnerable so many times. But he stood his ground. The goals (Milwaukee) got were rebounds or screens ... it's nice to see him get a win under his belt."
