The Dallas Stars earned their breaks Saturday, and made sure they didn't need any more than they received.
Dallas took advantage of a 3-for-7 day on the power play and a gift goal to start the second period, and then protected that lead with ferocity to finish with a 7-2 victory against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center. It was the first win for the Stars in six games and helped push them closer to a playoff spot.
Dallas moves to 43-29-6 (92 points), and will hold onto the fifth seed in the West heading into today's game against the Anaheim Ducks. The Stars also are getting closer to securing a playoff spot over Nashville or Edmonton.
That said, the performance Saturday was more about inner confidence.
