One after another, Kings players came off the ice with faces flushed red from exhaustion.
After an hour and 10 minutes of practice Wednesday, they were forced to skate wind sprints from one goal to around the other - something they probably haven't done since training camp - in an effort to work their way past their worst performance of the season.
"We hadn't done anything like that in a while," forward Patrick O'Sullivan said. "I don't think it necessarily had anything to do with the game but, at the same time, we had a hard practice today and I think that's good for us to forget about yesterday, come to rink today and work as hard as we could."
The team was 15 minutes late coming on to the ice because of a closed-door team meeting.
