The Vancouver Canucks begin a four-game homestand tonight with a clash against the Los Angeles Kings at General Motors Place.
Vancouver enters this residency as losers in four of their last five games. That includes a setback on Thursday in Detroit. Henrik Zetterberg scored the only goal of the shootout, lifting the Red Wings to a 3-2 win over the Canucks.
After the first shooter for each team missed, Zetterberg sent a well-timed backhander between the pads of goaltender Roberto Luongo. Dominik Hasek made saves on the next two Vancouver shots to preserve the win.
Luongo was busy all night, and turned aside 47-of-49 in the loss, the second in a row for the Canucks. Henrik Sedin had a goal and an assist, and Markus Naslund also tallied in the loss in what was his 1,000th career game.
