Brian Boyle was one of twoplayers selected in the first round of the 2003 NHL Draft not to make it to the NHL.
Then, early this season at the Kings' minor-league affiliate in Manchester, N.H., he was asked to change positions to defenseman.
It was like the Kings were giving up on him as a center.
I tried to commit to it totally," Boyle said. "I went into it thinking I was going to be a defenseman after being a centerman my whole entire life. It was a good experience, but it was tough while it happened. There were kind of some ups and downs, some good games that were fun and others that were really tough."
