Skates, skirts and scars are now part of the fun in Urbaniacs.com (
Urbaniacs - Funky Superheroes From Urbanville), the online social community and game site that is home to heroes, villains, homeys and arch enemies, when the newest LA Derby Dolls Urbaniacs’ avatar takes to the streets of Urbanville. In an exclusive agreement with LA Derby Dolls, Urbaniacs.com is bringing a rockin, rolling Derby Doll alter ego to its online community. In exchange for the fun new character on the site, Urbaniacs is co-sponsoring LA Derby Dolls summer camp for teenage girls.
Urbaniacs is a unique online social community and gaming site geared to ages 9-16 that was created by Josh Fisher and Barry Collier in 2005, who partnered with Brandissimo! in 2007. The site is a comic book world come to life, embracing the funky and fun side of urban living and social networking. Ubaniacs.com is a Parents’ Choice award-winner with more than 100,000 members and 60,000 new visits in just one month. Urbaniacs is featured on Newgrounds.com and offers a live chat feature for members.
“Adding the LA Derby Dolls avatar to Urbaniacs.com has already appealed to a new group of online gamers, notably young women,” said Josh Fisher, developer of Urbaniacs.com. “With the popularity of Roller Derby growing, especially with the upcoming Roller Derby movie ‘Whip It,’ produced by Drew Barrymore, the sport has taken on a celebrity following. What better place to showcase such an active, fun sport than the fun and funky virtual streets of Urbaniacs.com.”
