View Poll Results: Do you tip your tow truck driver
Although I cant remember my last tow I can tell you I overtip for everything. If it bothers you so much maybe you can attach a tip jar to the back of your tow truck and be like the rest of the other begging bast**** in the world. What happened to doing your job. Everybody wants something for nothing these days. I heard taco bell is hiring if you just cant take it anymore but be careful because there is hot grease there and it could get a little dangerous.
Those jackasses couldn't see my parking permit, and towed my car anyway. I always see that jackass with the license plate "CAR JAIL." **** you. You ain't getting my money!
Seriously though, It never occurred to me to tip a tow truck driver. I think I remember trying once and the guy refused (I think he was part of the LA Metro Freeway Rescue service, saved my ass he did).
F tipping them I already pay for my AAA service that covers it. Go above and beyond and I can see it but why should anyone tip someone who is doing their job?
I don't tip my pool guy or gardner ever week either, I PAY THEM isn't that tip enough?
Waiter, hairdresser sure they rely heavily on tip to survive and their employers take that into account when they hire them.
Last month I got a flat on the 210E going home. I began to change the tire when one of those Freeway Metro Patrol trucks came by. Just the fact that they carry the only jacks that really work made my 15 minute change only take 5 minutes. Sweet!
I pulled out a $20 and the guy said he wasn't allowed to take a gratuity. I told him to rub some grease on it and tell boss he found it, but he still refused. I had him write his office phone down and I took his truck number. At a minimum I could at least tell his boss he was a stand up guy, which I did, and his dispatcher was appreciative.
Are those Metro trucks city run so they can't take tips as opposed to a local service?
I've never tipped a tow truck driver. It never occurred to me. I already paid him $60 to tow my car a few blocks, isn't that enough? Unless he/she does something that isn't normally part of their job, I aint tipping ****.

It never occurred to me to even tip a tow truck driver. But my response to this goes along with my response to the "Are you tipping less" thread the FBJ started a few weeks ago.
Why should I tip you for doing your job? A job that you choose to do?
*Edit*- It was FlyinKIng that started the "Are you tipping less" thread, not FBJ.

I do when I can. There have been a few times where I have needed a tow, but have had zero cash (and it's not like I can hop in my car and run to the ATM).
But yes, I have tipped some tow truck drivers. $10 - 20, depending on what is in my wallet.
