i think someone named jimjones continued to assert that no shooting took place in hollywood on the night in question.
his reasoning was that the shooting was not reported in the paper or by lapd. this jim guy went so far as to call lapd and ask about a shooting. they told him there was no shooting.
first, if you ever had the chance to listen to the lapd rover on a summer weekend night, you would be amazed at the number of shooting calls. especially in south bureau divisions, ie harbor, newton, southeast, southwest
these shootings just dont make the paper, they just dont. calling lapd to get information on a shooting is a little trickier. if you get the desk and a regular ole p2 answers, they may or may not know. and if you are just asking questions, your probably not going to get answers, you just come off as a weirdo.
on the other hand, if you ask to speak to robbery/homicide and get a d1/d2 on the phone, chances are your get more info. remember though, they arent in the business of just giving out info. the detectives assume that you are calling because you can help them.
and finally, lapd is overworked and understaffed and the victim didnt die. that plus the fact that the crime is considered a cat 2 (no solid leads) makes it low priority. not no priority, just low priority and thats the harsh reality of living in a big dirty city.
i dont post much, but i hoped this helped a little and im glad that riseandfall is ok. based on his story, there was nothing he couldve done to avoid the whole deal. bullet in the gut is the worst, been there seen it, yuck.
heres to getting better and playing hockey
The Following User Says Thank You to okto For This Useful Post:
you forgot to mention that the LAPD is grossly incompetent and corrupt beyond repair. I wouldn't doubt if a majority of these unsolved shootings were perpetrated by cops themselves, probably on drunken benders.

i tell ya, i feel bad for lapd. they didnt change with the times, took it up the you know what from the feds (consent decree), and now compensate by eating their own.
it's a hard place to work patrol. complaints and ia's are common and can have a serious effect on a patrol coppers attitude and productivity.
the officers on the street dont get support from the mayor, the police council, the chief, or their own captains.
i know that pretty much anytime you talk about the cops, you get one of two responses. the thing is, they still come when you dial 911, and will still try to save your ass from serious trouble.
