About This Page: This is a discussion on Reality Hipcheck within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. So I've done quite a bit of paintballing, but I've never tried Airsoft. Anyone have any opinions on it? Anyone do both?
I'm -- I guess -- intrigued by Airsoft
So I've done quite a bit of paintballing, but I've never tried Airsoft. Anyone have any opinions on it? Anyone do both?
I'm -- I guess -- intrigued by Airsoft because it seems closer to simulation than paintball. No huge hoppers, no compressed air tanks. Seems like it would be a bit funner without all the equipment.
For those who have played, how is it? Is clean-up a bitch, or does everyone use biodegradable BBs now? Do you feel it more or less in comparison to a paintball when you get hit? Without the visual feedback of a bright spot of paint, do a lot of people cheat, or just don't know they've been hit?
I want to pick it up just so I can have an excuse to get an XM8
I was looking into airsoft for a while. I wanted to get a Tokyo Mauri MP5 or a M9 pistol, but instead I went the other way, and bought a Beretta M92FS. Why screw around with toys when you can go out and buy the real thing?

I have a 05 Ego, PM6 w/ UL frame, 03 Shocker(vision), E2'd Black Magic, old 68 Special.
Good god, with that 05 Ego you really want to ramp someone up with that:
I have nothing special: 05 Ion with a CP 14n barrell. Run it off of Compressed Air and have a Halo Hopper with that. My ther gun is a Spyder Sonix, that I added their electric trigger to and run it off of a revo hopper and compressed air or CO2

About a year ago I was invited to a airsoft match and I was sceptical about the whole thing. I mean, terrains can be huge and there's simply no way of knowing that somebody is hit, than to rely on player's honesty. But I was quickly proven wrong - those guys were so honest, one even admitted (you raise your hand and acknowledge a hit) of being hit when somebody shoot couple of burst into the air and the BBs fell on top of him. And this guy was in a forest all by himself...
Knowing of being hit is not a problem, you can usually feel it and if you're shot within a short range it can also hurt a bit. Being a noob, I was used as a point-man once and two guys popped out of nowhere... now that hurt a lot . IIRC, you're not allowed to shoot at a person he is closer than 5 meters, our rule was just to yell "dead" and the "dead" man simply walks away. The only problem I'm aware of, are the long distance shots, when force behind the BB is really low and sometimes you just don't realize you're hit.
Cheaters are quickly excluded from playing, often permanently. People are simply aware that if they cheat, they would ruin all the fun and I'd say 99% of people aren't doing it.
Cleanup? As you said, biodegradable BBs take care of that.
