after my many travels this week through Central Cali, I am now planning the next trip to Veags, late March to early April (3-30 to 4-4)
for work. I need to really work my ass of so I can get out early Friday so I want to stay away from the casinos.
where do I stay ? I get a corp discount at Marriott and Radisson properties but do not HAVE to stay there I can stay where I want. Need to keep it under 140ish a night
All of the Station casinos are fine by me. Yes, they are casinos, but more for locals and away from the strip. Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch are the best of that bunch. Then there's always the La Quinta in the NW part of town. There's other non-casino hotels/motels but a lot of those are just off the strip and are kinda trashy and I straight up wouldn't recommend them.
We always love NY-NY. Great restaurants, great bars, close to everything. But it is pricey. Depends on what you need to be near for your work. We also stayed many times at the Monte Carlo that has a great brew pub.
Stayed at Southpoint Casino, last month when I was in Vegas to play in a hockey tournament and it was very nice. And VERY cheap. Not only were the rooms cheap (we paid $85 on Thursday and $130 Friday and Saturday), but they were well appointed (flat screens in every room).
The only thing you have to watch is to make sure you get a room away from the construction -- they're adding on to the hotel. My room was fine, but someone else on my team had to move rooms when construction woke them up at 7:00 AM.
I second the Green Valley Ranch if you want to be away from the strip & still want restaurants, a little gaming, shopping, coffee, drinks. The hotel has a theatre if you want to catch a flick, and outside the main entrance is "The District" which is like a mini-Victoria Gardens or The Grove.
If you dont really care, you might want to see what you can get on one of those hotwire type sites where you are guaranteed a 4 or 5 star for the price you want. You just dont get to choose which hotel.
There have been several outstanding suggestions so far, but if you're staying at GVR and the work meetings or whatever are in Summerlin, I just cursed you to a hour long drive stuck in traffic similar to the Eastbound 91 at 5:15 PM on a Friday. Since that would really suck, where exactly is your work function taking place?
work function is all over the Las Vegas are with a heavier concentration in the North West area. One day at the convention center, which I believe is also towards the NW area.
I am really trying to avoid the casino type of hotels as I will gamble for days if I give in the urges. If I stay away I can't give in.
The Palazzo looks real nice and the price is in the ballpark.
