Hey Rinky, here's your new license plate

I was enjoying myself at a neighborhood Fourth of July Block Party, when I happened to notice an unusual hot rod at the end of the block.

Turns out it's an authentic Barris Custom rod called Ratula! Based on the Dragula Hot Rod from the Munsters, Ratula is a bare bones rod, if you excuse the pun.

Instead of a lavish coffin like Dragula, Ratula is a stripped down version, which are often called Rat Rods. Get it? Rat rod... Ratula.... whatevs. I thought it was cool.

I imagine the interior was better at one time, as it was basically covered with an old bedsheet.

I'm not a car guy, but I can appreciate the work put in on this. In a sort of related story, I came across the George Barris version of the Batmobile... in Hot Wheel form. Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted a Batmobile. This weekend, my dream came true.

George Barris is a very famous custom car fabricator. He is the creator of many famous TV/Movie customs. The Batmobile, and the Munster's coffin car are two that come to mind. Thanks for sharing Matt!

The Barris showroom is a couple miles away from my house. It's on Riverside Dr. near Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood.

Sweet, nice! A few years back, I went to meet George Barris with a few co-workers. He let us sit in the Batmobile #1 in his showroom. I also climbed into the Munsters vehicle (not Grandpa's coffin, but the family ride they had), and the General Lee. He also had the Monkeys car there, and a James Dean porsche - Barris had breakfast with James Dean on the morning of his death.
