It's been a long time since I've been to big bear. I would rent a boat and go swimming, go walk around the town, go hiking, fishing, and if you see a bear with a jug on it's head, RUN!

I prefer Arrowhead as well now, especially in the summer. The lake is way nicer, not as crowded. The village is REALLY nice, they have mini golf, go karts, great places to eat, you can fish, swim, I love it up there.
We used to race motorcycles up there, and pick up on the locals, those were the days! My friend had a cabin right near the village, I think we drank all the beers they brought up the mountain when we would road trip it up there.
Try the Moonridge Animal Park, near Bear Mountain. It's actually pretty good, and I'm sure your kids will love it. They have a couple of Grizzly bears, mountain lions, a snow leopard, and bald eagles, among others. You can get pretty close to the animals; far more than any other zoo.
Stay for the feeding of the predatory birds; it's pretty captivating.
My friend did the bobsled, fell off as people often do, apparently got some fiberglass from the track embedded in his arm (unbeknownst to him) and his arm swelled to twice its size over night.
Chad's place ...I've been there many times, so I'm told.

I was JUST going to post about Chad's Place! I can't tell you how many Kings games I watched in that joint because the TV where we were staying didn't get the Kings broadcast.
Nothing like watching hockey with a bunch of Hells Angels.

Go to Green Valley Lake and find a crew clearing brush and help them.
And once you are done there and have some training in the proper technique, head up to my empty lot in Crestline and do the same before the city sends me a notice to do it or pay a fine, and then have to pay them to do it.
