Or do you just happily fork over your hard earned dollars to any blowhard with a fancy ad campaign?
Glucosamine is useless? i don't know anyone who takes it, but i thought it was common for that ailment or affliction or whatever.
Ginko is the memory one, right?
well Centrum Silver is just a multi-vitamin... which as my doctor just recently told me while i was in the hospital, are pretty much unnecessary UNLESS you have a rather poor diet. then, one a day (heh) is good for you.

Some homeopathic stuff works and works very well. I agree on the glucosamine chondroitin. It is pricey and I never noticed any benefit. However, higher potency of acidophulus works better for me than Prevacid or Nexium ever did.
In the past, I bought a book that provided prescription strength dosages of homeopathic alternatives. At higher dosages than were on the bottles, and with combining some that increase the effectiveness, I got real elimination of pain when the prescription strength NSAIDs I was taking weren't doing squat at the time.
On their own, they can be a waste. With some research on dosage and combinations of things that make a difference in how your body responds, it not only wasn't a waste of money, it eliminated my symptoms.

Glucosamine sulfate was not efficacious in treating the symptoms or retarding radiographic progression of hip OA over two years of use.

I take Glucasomine, but not for RA. I notice that it helps keep the joints a bit more lubed. When I don't take it, my ankles and hips tend to be a bit more sore after walking/working in the yard/softball.
