I've never taken glucosamine, but I am a firm believer in using probiotics.

I also think alcohol is a good alternative treatment.

Go for the Methotrexate/Celebrex combo, it works like a charm.

For joint, muscle and all other pains I take the best stuff around that
no one really knows about...CHINA GEL. Google it yourself because
I didn't pay RinkRat to run a commercial on his boards.

well, the last time i was prescribed painkillers, i had my tonsils taken out a couple winters ago. they didn't really help. it was during the holidays and i had trouble handling my liquor whilst on the meds. so i just didn't bother taking them.
i usually wait until headaches go away on their own, too, since i don't like OTC meds.

my only medicine goes by the name of jack daniels!!!

When painkillers don't work you tell your doctor and then he prescribes vicoden ES for you . That'll work.

For eal though, there's real science behind not mixing pills and booze. Essentially your body will process alcohol first. By the time it gets to the painkillers you could be really drunk...and you will be hit all at once with with your meds...could get ugly. Just ask Jimi Hendrix.

same, I take a gluc mix formula for joint support, and a multivitamin.

I definitely notice a difference, especially if Im playing in goal 8+ hrs per week., or running 12+ miles.

I heard that glucosamine is extremely effective in causing anal leakage.

True dat. I've had bad experienceS mixing booze and meds, especially anti-depressants. I've learned my lesson, though it took me a couple of scary episodes to figure it out.

about the vicodin... i told my doctor i really only had pain after sleeping for a few hours from lying down and it wouldn't stop until i'd sat up to let whatever was leaking back there stop. he said i had to just bear with it until it healed... and i did.

about the booze + painkillers... it was around xmas and new years. i can't not have booze during that time. buh bye painkillers that don't work anyway!
i did mix the two a couple times before ditching them though and the only bad thing that happened to me was that i got up off a barstool after half a pitcher of beer and couldn't walk straight. but ya... i know it's not a good mix.

On the Skeptic's Guide last week they interviewed Dr Dean Edell, who mentioned something that needs emphasis about holistic remedies.

It was already mentioned by someone else in this thread but should be more prevalent in the media and our culture. It is called the Placebo Effect.

Placebo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There should be a regulation on all Supplement Packages that mentions and emphasizes the Placebo Effect instead of the marketing speak.

Oh! Well, if you're not gonna use your vicodins, I'll just get rid of them for you. Here, give them to mommy...mommy has pain like you wouldn't believe!

Ahhh....that's much better.
