I flew from Reno to Oakland, then Oakland to LA last night and there was an eerie, orange glow below for some of the flight.

my brother has a ranch bout 8 miles from the 3rd pic in - Piute Fire... luckily burning away from his place at the moment.

Its been just nasty, hot and smoke filled skies out here for two weeks.

My brother just got back from fighting the fires up in Chico and such. Got a pretty nasty cut on his hand from a chainsaw. All 5 fingers are still there and working just cut into the fatty tissue. Was up there about I think 5 or 6 days. One day they hiked in for like 5 miles to clear brush and deal with the fire.

According to him...Wildland fires suck balls

I was wondering why it was so damn smokey up the whole 395 when i went up to Mammoth to pack all my crap up. I knew it was a fire, but didnt think it was that big.

A couple of days ago the wind brought a lot of the smoke into the west SF valley. Very eerie.
