YouTube - Cop Assaulting Cyclist at Critical Mass Ride
I haven't heard too much about the Critical Mass cyclists, but they seem like dolts. But then again, my hatred of unpowered, two-wheeled single-occupancy self-propelled devices is well documented.

That cop should be looking for a new job. Is he?
He's the new Linebacker for the New York Jets.

Yep, this is all over the web. The cop arrested the guy, claiming the guy ran him over and he spent 26 hours in jail. After the video came out, the cop lost his gun and badge and is now riding a desk while the NYPD investigates.
The cyclist got incredibly lucky that this was captured on video, otherwise he'd be facing serious felony charges for assault on a police officer.

Ok, I agree the first video looks bad for the officer as he knocks the guy off of his bike. Saying the biker was charging him, I have to agree is not going to work. I would though like to know what happened before the video started.
As for the second video. This is my take on it, follow the orders of the officers, put your hands behind your back, do not resist while being handcuffed and you will not get hit with the baton. We do not ask people to be handcuffed, we order them to put their hands behind their back. If they refuse we do not say, "That's ok you don't have to" and walk away, we will use the correct amount of force needed to affect the arrest.

I agree those two vids are not in the same ballpark. But the guy did lose his nerves a bit there.

Hard to keep ones nerve when people are agitated. Cops say "do this" I do it, with a smile. This usually puts them off their gaurd and by the end of the encounter they trot off with their little pink tails wiggling happily.
... Meanwhile I still have the body in teh trunk!!

Note to self: "Always check MD420's trunk before trotting off wiggling my little pink tail."
1st video- The cop is a jackass (just like GO). He is already been suspended and will get what he deserves.
2nd video- The idiot got what he deserved. He should have put his hands behind his back and been cuffed. I am not saying I would have used a baton to get him to comply BUT the fact is he was not listening to the officers.

That was a sweet open road tackle. Kinda reminds of Blake in the good old days.
Man the guy in the second video got his **** busted up.
Note to self, listen and obey the commands of the pohlice, especially the cops with the batons.
